2020 Genesis G90: An Affordable Luxury Car

In early January, Genesis unveiled an updated version of the G90 at the Montreal International Auto Show. These new updates and upgrades push the Genesis brand more into the luxury segment than ever. The 2020 Genesis G90 is expected to go on sale in the summer of 2019. Below are some of the upgrades you can expect in the 2020 Genesis G90.
Price and Trims
Previous G90 models have been available in two trim levels: the 3.3T Premium and 5.0 Ultimate. Whereas in Canada, only one trim level is available but it will be equipped with the option of two powerful engines. Both of these trims come with their own engine.
Interior
Most of the interior cabin has been updated and simplified. The fewer buttons and knobs the easier on the eyes. Genesis has majorly reduced the number of audio controls to improve user experience, as well as the look and feel, and the materials used for the controls have been upgraded. The center display is also now touch-sensitive and much more useful than the rotary dial that the G90’s predecessors are used to.
The designers of the G90 have replaced all the materials on the interior with higher-quality materials such as quilted Nappa leather upholstery, additional leather and new piping on the dashboard and center console have an exposed grain natural wood trim. The seats got a lot of attention, front seats have memory functions and can be upgraded with heat and ventilation. Thanks to a noise cancellation system, front passengers will always experience a calm and relaxing ride. It’s safe to say that the 2020 Genesis G90 lacks nothing!
Exterior
Genesis gave the G90 an updated and enlarged grille. A decorative trim has also been added which stretches down to the reworked headlights. One of the most interesting changes to the exterior is the brand’s logo on the trunk lid. Instead of displaying the logo, we find the letters “G E N E S I S” on the trunk lid. At the rear also, the taillights have been reshaped to cover the full width of the car. 19-inch alloy wheels also make their way on this 2020 Genesis. Silver and red exterior paint colors are also new for the 2020 model year.
Performance
The 2020 Genesis G90 will have the same two powertrains. First is a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine producing 365 horsepower. The available 5.0-liter V8 engine produces 420 horsepower. Both come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The fuel economy hasn’t yet been provided for the G90, but it’s expected to receive the same as previous models since the powertrains are the same. This Genesis rides like no other, simply gliding across the pavement effortlessly. Power delivery is smooth and the sound of the V8 is one spectacular roar. The G90 is sharper and more agile than the previous years model thanks to its standard adaptive suspension system.
Safety Features
New features in the 2020 Genesis G90 include lane follow assist, highway driving assist, blind-spot monitoring with camera display, rear cross-traffic monitoring with emergency braking, forward collision avoidance assist with cyclist detection, and safe exit assist, which warns the driver and passengers when an object is approaching the doors.
